So here’s the sled I ordered that retrofits the tiny laptop SSD into my desktop, which I bought to replace my failed HDD. The sled is for the newer Mac Pros but I just measured how much space it stuck out, hacked the ends off, and drilled new screw mounts. It fits and looks beautiful.
Also, it’s good to be back. Work has been insanely busy. It still is, but the weekend’s almost here and I’m already feeling good about it.
I’ve been feeling a little out of sorts since the system drive on my Mac Pro crashed several days ago and left me without a working computer and no access to my critical files. Luckily, I managed to recover files I left on my desktop that I’ve been lazy about transferring to my backup drives. I tried to buy a replacement drive but found out that there’s a massive drive shortage due to the floods in Thailand. Seriously, the shelves were bare in both Fry’s and Best Buy. I finally managed to find one 80GB laptop SSD, so I purchased it in hopes that I could somehow get it to play nice with the big Apple box. Long story short, I managed to connect it without using the drive sled for now but I ordered this so it will fit nice and snug for the long term. The drive flies. The disk access and overall speed of the machine has vastly improved. The plan now is to use a spare 250GB drive I had as a system backup using Time Machine since it’s been working so well at the day job. Always backup.
I love the people I work with.
Who made a vegetarian “Mighty Cone” using fresh tortilla, Quorn, avocado, and a little ranch? I did, that’s who.
