One of the biggest highlights of SXSW - Seeing two guys that I started my very first band with when I was 14, Karl Toft and Rick Ballard (with daughter). Rick set aside tickets for me and my friends to see a screening of his documentary film about Bob Forrest, Bob and the Monster. Him and his wife (who wrote, directed, and co-produced it), Keirda, should be proud. It was fantastic. They were pretty busy afterwards fielding questions from everyone, but we did manage to talk for a bit. I will probably end up going to L.A. sometime to visit them and to see my new friend Tate, who’s also a producer and is currently working on a film called Raisin’ Cain. Also, I found out that Karl lives in Austin, so we’ll definitely be hanging out in the very near future. Here’s to old and new friends!
