I started off my first full day (understatement) of SXSW by volunteering to be a shooter for Hipstamatic at one of their events. It turned out to be the Macallan Whiskey registrants lounge. Basically they set me up with one of their iPhones that would automatically upload every picture I took to a large television in the lounge and simultaneously to their website (scroll down to shots By @hipstamatic). Albeit a long stint of time at three hours, it went by fast. I got to meet lots of nice SXSW’ers who, on the whole, were receptive to me shooting their pic, sans the wannabe rock star, the very sweet older ladies who worked for the State Department and didn’t want anyone seeing them with a glass of whiskey in their hands, and the awkward couple who didn’t want their photo displayed to thousands of people; hey, I’m right there with you. Overall it was a great experience and I got paid in Hipstamatic schwag and $100 worth of iTunes and Apple gift cards.
